Characidium borellii valid and from Argentina

considered a valid species from Argentina:
Characidium borellii   (Boulenger, 1895)

type locality:
Argentina, Province of Tucuman, San Pablo. Holotype: MZUT P 2563

Characidium borellii has been considered a valid species from Argentina by the following authors:

Buckup, P.A. (1993):
Review of the characidiin fishes (Teleostei: Characiformes), with description of four new genera and ten new species.
Ichthyological Exploration of Freshwaters 4 (2): 97-154

Gery, J., A. Zarkse & H.J. Paepke (2001):
Supplementary descriptions of two overlooked fish taxa, Leporinus macrolepidotus Peters, 1868, and Nanognathus borellii Boulenger, 1895 actually members of the genus Characidium Reinhardt, 1866 (Teleostei: Characiformes: Characidiidae).
Zoologische Abhandlungen des Staatlichen Museums für Tierkunde Dresden 51 (3): 23-32

Zarske, A. & J. Gery (2001):
Beschreibung von drei neuen Arten der Gattung Characidium Reinhardt, 1866 aus Bolivien und Paraguay (Teleostei: Characiformes: Characidiidae).
Zoologische Abhandlungen des Staatlichen Museums für Tierkunde Dresden 51 (16): 229-246

remarks:
This species was treated as valid and from Argentina by Pozzi (1945:258) and Ringuelet & Arámburu (1962:35). Ringuelet et al. (1967:188) considered Characidium borellii ‘especie limítrofe’, meaning from neighbouring countries, with San Pablo, Paraguay [and not ‘San Pablo, Tucuman’ !], as type locality. López et al. (1987:20) also listed the species as ‘limítrofe’. In López et al. (2003) it was not listed at all. In CLOFFSCA it was listed as valid and from Argentina. [See section ‘literature’ for these]
Gery et al. (2001) give as explanation for the wrong type locality that Ringuelet et al. (1967) probably followed a lapsus of Eigenmann.
