confirmed species for Argentina:
Crenicichla semifasciata (Heckel, 1840)

remarks:
Ringuelet et al. (1967) and Cordiviola & Pignalberi (1895) provided records of this species from several localities in Argentina. López et al. (1987) listed Batrachops semifasciatus for Argentina. Posteriously it was not included by López et al. (2003). Holmberg in 1891 described Acharnes chacoensis from Chaco and Formosa provinces. This taxon is today considered a questionable synonym of C. semifasciata.
